Looks like the futuristic prostheses depicted in Eidos Montreal's Deus Ex: HR aren't to far off from becoming a common reality thanks to the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency or DARPA for short. Due to amazing breakthroughs in Reliable Neural-Interface Technology (RE-NET), scientists have created a technique called Targeted Muscle Re-innveration (TMR) which doesn't use a cortical implant to take signal directly from the brain, but reads and interprets the signals in the local muscle tissue. This amazing technology is already being put to use on unfortunate veterans and helping them to lead near normal lives, lets just hope the discord that arises from this technology in Deus ex stays in the realm of fiction.
"First this cup of coffee then......THE WORLD"
